2022 Sangiovese
There is a great diversity of climates within the Limestone Coast, with warmer regions better suited to red varieties such as Sangiovese, that need to achieve full flavour and textural ripeness.
The wine has a lifted and perfumed nose with aromas of mulberries, red liquorice and fresh fennel. The fruit driven palate features sour cherry and rhubarb complemented by earthy spice driven notes to finish.
Like all good Sangiovese, this wine is enhanced when complimented with food.
Reviews
"Kwondong, raspberry leaf and poached rhubarb — this wine keeps me young. Crack it, plonk it, and let it do the heavy lifting at lunch. Friends, lovers, one-night stands… It clears the throat and oils the chat. Wild strawberry, cranberries, red liquorice. Juicy, vibrant, effortless. The fruit hails from Padthaway — a warmer, more Mediterranean pocket of the Limestone Coast that clearly allows Sangiovese to thrive. Tannins squeak like halloumi, fine and architectural. The acid is al dente, keeping it tight, youthful, and food-friendly. The finish is long, with savoury notes of gum nut and bay leaf. Solid wine."
