A Decade of Mount Gambier Riesling

A Decade of Mount Gambier Riesling

10 years of our Mount Gambier riesling - give us a riesling not to celebrate.

To mark the milestone, we hosted a vertical tasting for a small group of trade and media at Supernormal in Melbourne.

It was a unique opportunity to pour ten years of Mount Gambier Riesling side by side, show how beautifully the variety suits the area, and spotlight the terroir — vineyard and region together.

We celebrated over a long lunch built to complement Riesling, young and old. The afternoon was casual, with open conversation about the region’s flinty limestone soils and cool maritime climate — strongly influenced by the Southern Ocean and Bonney Upwelling.

All the wines showed elegance and grace in their age, especially the 2015 and 2017 vintages. Both looked remarkably fresh, thanks to the retention of natural acidity - showing varietal purity and precision on the palate.

A huge thanks to our Mount Gambier growers, the Ellis family, and their viticulturist Joe. This milestone is a testament to their hard work and care in the vineyard.

Save the date for the twenty-year in 2035 — and in the meantime, keep an eye out (join our mailing list) for a special back-vintage release.

A shout-out to Hilary at Turnip Media for helping us gather an excellent crew to celebrate.
